Budgam, Aug 06 (KNO): Thousands of devotees gathered at the shrine of Hazrat Sultan Syed Mohammad Ali Aali (RA) in Pakherpora area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday to mark the annual Poshak Bandhi ceremony with traditional religious fervor.
The ceremony, which involves the ritual changing of the sacred cloth (poshak) on the saint’s mausoleum, was led jointly by Waqf Board officials and prominent religious cleric Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami, alongside members of the shrine management committee.
Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a Waqf Board representative said: “All necessary arrangements were made to ensure smooth conduct of the ceremony and to accommodate the large gathering of devotees.”
Hami, while briefly addressing the gathering, said: “This ceremony reflects our collective spiritual heritage and reminds us of the teachings of our revered saints who guided people through love and unity.”
Local residents and pilgrims from across the Valley attended the event. “I have been coming here for over ten years with my family. The peace and spiritual energy of this place is unmatched,” said Abdul Majeed, a devotee from Baramulla.
Zahida Bano, a pilgrim from Pulwama, said: “The annual Poshak Bandhi brings us closer to our roots. It is a day of blessings for everyone who attends.”
The event continues with special prayers (duas) for peace, communal harmony, and the well-being of the people of Jammu and Kashmir—(KNO)
